History

The Upsilon Delta chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was established on April 29, 2007, at Dickinson College by eleven dedicated, tenacious, and trailblazing women. As the first Black Greek-letter organization at Dickinson College, Upsilon Delta holds a historic and transformative role in the institution's history. The charter members of Upsilon Delta are Priscilla Addison, Mofeyisayo Ayodele, Shania Brown, Kimberly Grandy, Alexis Henry, Tabitha Jones, Tiauna McKnight, Krizzha Reyes, Shanise Scott, Camille Walfall, and Yazmin Watkins. These visionary students united to promote academic excellence, provide scholarships and support to underserved communities, encourage participation in shaping positive public policy, and address societal challenges with innovative solutions.

Between 2007 and 2012, the chapter left an indelible mark through impactful collaborations with student organizations, meaningful community engagement, and programming that addressed pressing campus and societal issues. Their efforts earned widespread respect from students and faculty, establishing a legacy of excellence at Dickinson.

In the spring of 2012, the chapter became dormant after the graduation of its last member. Following several years of inactivity, Upsilon Delta was reactivated in November 2018 with a renewed commitment to the sorority’s mission. During its reactivation, the chapter transitioned to a city-wide chapter, extending its reach to include Gettysburg College. In the spring of 2023, York College of Pennsylvania was also added to the Upsilon Delta charter, further solidifying its presence and impact across South Central Pennsylvania.

Through sisterhood, scholarship, and service, the Upsilon Delta chapter continues to lead with purpose, addressing community needs and empowering future generations in Carlisle, York, and Gettysburg.
